"Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will," Ephesians 1:5
I've always had a soft spot in my heart for children, especially babies. I've only somewhat thought about adoption; I have a couple cousins, friends, etc that were adopted. I babysit a couple of kids that were adopted. My church has tons of people that were adopted/ have adopted. My husband on the other hand has been surrounded by adoption. His extended family owns an adoption agency in the Ukraine (soon to be the only one there); he has an adopted cousin and uncle (on different sides of the family).
I feel like adoption is a great way to prove to children that you love them too. I read a story recently that just made me smile:
What It Means to Be Adopted: Teacher Debbie Moon's first graders were discussing a
picture of a family. One little boy in the picture had a different color hair than the
other family members. One child suggested that he was adopted and a little girl named
Jocelynn Jay said, "I know all about adoptions because I was adopted."
"What does it mean to be adopted?" asked another child. "It means,"
said Jocelynn, "that you grew in your mommy's heart instead of her tummy."
I just love this story. It's how I want my son(s) and daughter(s) to feel about their adoption into our family!
